Owning your own retail or service oriented business comes with a full load of headaches; the paperwork that has to be done in order to keep everybody from your accountant to the taxman happy can be overwhelming. The one thing that you can do for yourself to make this herculean task easier is to make sure that any time you sell anything or perform any kind of service for a customer is give them a receipt. To make it look as professional as possible, you should use a sales receipt template that already has the bulk of your business information entered into it.
By using a good template you can create professional easy to understand receipts that your customers are sure to appreciate. There is nothing that looks worse for your business than to give your customers a hand written receipt that is disorganized and hard to read. This can lead them to question exactly what they are getting for their money, especially if you are in a service related business.
At the end of the day or the week when it is time to balance your books and enter all of the day’s or week’s business into your accounting software used to be real chore for those who used hand written receipts. If you use a sales receipt template you can not only print out easy to read receipts, but in many cases the software that generates the receipts can be tied directly into your accounting software so that your books are kept up to date every time a receipt is created and marked as paid in full.
While it is important for your sales receipts to look professional, they do not have to be overtly fancy to do the job. Choose a template that allows you to enter all of your pertinent business information across the top along with a company logo if you have one. There needs to be an area to enter the customer’s information and a way to store it for future use. After this the rest of the receipt should be dedicated to an area that you can use to describe the item or service that was sold and the prices.
At the bottom the sales receipt template should create and area to show sub totals, taxes and final amount due. Keeping your business running is hard enough as it is, the last thing you need is a paperwork nightmare , being able to create a simple to use sales receipt can take a little of burden away and let you concentrate on why you started your own business in the first place.
